About SuburbCheck
SuburbCheck is a free, data-driven tool for comparing Australian suburbs. Search any suburb to see a full profile — demographics, property prices, crime and safety, schools, transport and liveability — or compare two suburbs side by side.
Why we built it
We built SuburbCheck because existing tools either show incomplete data, hide their methodology, or focus on investors rather than people looking for a place to live. We wanted a single place that pulls together the official numbers, explains exactly how every score is calculated, and lets you explore and compare freely.
Our philosophy
- Transparency. Every score has a public formula. See exactly how it works on our methodology page.
- Free access.No paywalls, no sign-up required to view a suburb's data.
- Real government data. Everything is sourced from official government and public datasets — the ABS, BOCSAR, the NSW Valuer General, Transport for NSW, ACARA, the Bureau of Meteorology and OpenStreetMap.
Coverage
SuburbCheck currently covers New South Wales — over 4,500 suburbs — chosen first because of its strong open-data ecosystem. We're expanding to other states as we map their crime, transport and property data to the same structure.
