SuburbCheck

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 August 2026

SuburbCheck ("we", "us") is an independent, data-driven Australian website. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the site and deliver reports:

  • Your email and (optional) name — when you buy a report, register interest, or use the contact form.
  • Purchase details — the tier you bought, the suburbs you selected, and the report configuration (your priorities, budget, dwelling and country of origin) so we can generate and re-serve your report.
  • Payment records — a Stripe payment reference and status. We never see or store your card number — Stripe handles that (see Processors).
  • Usage analytics— anonymised visit data via Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics (pages viewed, approximate location, device type) to understand what's useful. We don't use this to identify you personally.

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not ask for sensitive information (health, religion as an identifier, etc.) — the "faith" option in the report tool is a search preference, not a record we tie to you.

How we use it

  • To generate, deliver and re-serve the report you paid for.
  • To email you your report link and reply to your enquiries.
  • To process your payment and keep a record of the transaction.
  • To keep the site working and improve it (aggregate analytics).

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We do notsend marketing emails without your consent — if you register interest we'll only email you about the thing you asked about.

Who processes your data (our providers)

We use trusted third parties to run the service. Each only receives what it needs, and each is bound by its own privacy terms:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe collects your card details directly; we only receive a payment reference and status.
  • Resend — sends your report-confirmation email.
  • Supabase — database storage for orders and site data.
  • Vercel — website hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Google — maps, static map images and geocoding; Google Analytics.

Some of these providers store or process data outside Australia (for example in the United States). Where that happens, we rely on the provider's own safeguards and contractual protections.

Suburb data is not personal data

The suburb figures across SuburbCheck — demographics, prices, crime, schools, transport, amenities and so on — come from public government and open data (ABS, state Valuers-General, state crime agencies, ACARA, GTFS feeds, the Bureau of Meteorology, OpenStreetMap and similar). It describes places, not people, and is not your personal information.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@suburbcheck.com.au and we'll action reasonable requests promptly. Note that if you ask us to delete your order, the report at your unique link will stop working.

Retention & security

We keep order and contact records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet our legal and tax obligations, then remove them. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Complaints & changes

If you think we've mishandled your information, contact us first and we'll try to resolve it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.

This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service.
